Cyprus is a nesting ground for endangered loggerhead and green turtles, which come ashore to lay eggs on protected beaches — most famously Lara Bay on the Akamas and beaches near Polis. In summer you may spot turtles offshore on boat and snorkelling trips, especially around Turtle Cove near Protaras.
