Tombs of the Kings

UNESCOAncientPhotogenic

Rock-cut royal tombs from the Hellenistic age, carved right by the sea — part of Paphos’ UNESCO archaeological park.

Tombs of the Kings is one of the best things to do around Paphos in Cyprus. Below you’ll find where it is, the top-rated tours to book, and a hire car and places to stay nearby.

Visiting the Tombs of the Kings

The Tombs of the Kings, on the northern edge of Paphos, is a UNESCO-listed necropolis where high-ranking officials — not actually kings — were buried more than two thousand years ago. Carved straight into the rock, the grandest tombs are ringed by Doric columns around open courtyards: an atmospheric, dramatic site right by the sea.

It’s part of the wider Paphos archaeological area and easy to combine with the Paphos mosaics and harbour. Wear a hat and sturdy shoes, bring water, and visit early or late to avoid the midday heat — there’s little shade among the tombs.
