How urgent care works in Cyprus

🏥Public A&E (ΤΑΕΠ)

Every district has a 24/7 public Accident & Emergency department; all treat children too. Free/low-cost, but can be busy — bring ID and any EHIC/GHIC card.

➕Private ERs

Private hospitals often have shorter waits and English-speaking staff. Ideal if you have travel insurance — keep your policy and emergency-assistance number handy.

🗓️Weekend / night doctor

Out of hours, the on-call GP rota is published monthly on GESY (gesy.org.cy). For anything serious at night, use a public A&E or call 112.

💊Minor issues

Tip: EU/UK visitors — carry your EHIC/GHIC; it covers medically necessary treatment in the public system. Non-EU visitors should rely on travel insurance, which also lets you use the private ERs above. GESY (national health) does not cover short-term visitors.
