How SEATRAC works

♿Getting into the sea, independently

SEATRAC is a solar-powered seat on a fixed rail that carries a wheelchair user down the beach and into the sea and back — operated with a simple remote control. It's free to use.

At Cyprus beaches the remote is usually held by the lifeguard, so ask on arrival. Devices run during the bathing season while lifeguards are on duty (roughly late spring to autumn, daytime). Most other accessible beaches offer a floating wheelchair instead — also free, ask the lifeguard.

Good to know: SEATRAC units and floating chairs are seasonal and can be moved or taken offline for maintenance. The official list is updated yearly and can lag reality — call the local municipality to confirm the current season's status before you travel.
